The Breath Taking Waterfall
The Dudhsagar Falls, which translates to milk sea or ‘sea of milk’ (Dudh- Milk, Sagar- Sea) is named that way because of the beautiful white foam that is formed from the waterfall striking the rocks. One can endlessly get lost in the vastness of the waterfalls, especially during the monsoon season. The Dudhsagar falls is a very popular destination for tourists round the year. Located in the Sanguam Taluka in Goa, the only place to experience this waterfall is by trekking or travelling from the Kulem Railway.
The Legend Behind Dudhsagar
There is this popular story where it’s said that a princess used to bathe in these very waterfalls daily with her handmaidens. And to protect her modesty, her handmaidens poured milk in the waterfall behind which she changed her clothes, hence protecting her decency, as there was a prince who crossed by the woods. This is where the name ‘Dudhsagar’ came from.
