Literary meaning ‘the palace of winds’, the mahal was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 which is an extension of zenana or the ladies quarters of the City Palace. The main architect of this palace built of red and pink sandstone, is Lal Chand Ustad and it is believed to have been constructed in the form of the crown of Lord Krishna.
