Jantar Mantar Travel Guide
Located in New Delhi, the Jantar Mantar was one of the five sites and an observatory constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur in 1724. The popular tourist destination in Delhi attracts a large number of lovers of astronomy. The essential purpose of the Jantar Mantar was to accumulate astronomical tables which help in celestial predictions. This in helped in the prediction of the time and movement of the celestial bodies such as the sun, moon and other planets. After constructing the Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Raja Jai Singh constructed more such structures by the same name in Jaipur, Ujjain, Mathura and Varanasi.
