It is the oldest national park of India named after Jim Corbett a British hunter who gave up hunting. Corbett national park was founded in 1936 as Hailey national park in the Nainital district of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The park covers an area of 521sqkms. There are 488 different types of plants and over 585 types of birds and many species of animals. But the most important reason why tourists visit this place is tigers and herds of elephants.
