Karni Mata Temple Travel Guide
In the historical city of Alwar, Rajasthan, lies the very eminent Karni Mata Temple, which is visited by tourists from far and wide, all-throughout-the-year. Located in the heart of the city, the temple is dedicated to Karni Mata, who is considered to be one of the fiercer forms of Goddess Kali. The temple is home to numerous rodents, known to be the preservers of the temple, considered auspicious and are taken care-of by the temple staff. The Karni Mata Temple is also famous for its architecture, which is heavily influenced by Mughal architecture. The temple, made of sandstone, has beautiful and intricate carvings on its pillars, domes and pergolas. There is no entry fee levied upon devotees or visitors at the temple. The deity is locally referred to as Ridhi Bai and Nari Bai by locals. She is the family deity of the royal families of Jodhpur and Bikaner.
