This monastery is a monument to Delhi's status as refuge for Tibetan exiles. The building was constructed with the participation of Kushok Gyalras Bakula, a member of Tibetan royalty. The monastry has need an oasis of calm beside the bustling Tibetan market nearby. There is massive prayer wheel by the main gate, living quarters for monks and a garden in front of the vihar. The vihar is generally deviod of visitors except during Buddha Purnima and Buddha Jayanti.
