Naughara Travel Guide

Stumbling on Naughara is like finding a diamond in the rough and tomble of Old Delhi. Chandi Chowk's congested capillaries, Naughara ("nine houses") is a stretch of brilliantry painted havelis, many of which now operate as jewellery boutiques. But the houses are the real gems here. Each is a different pastel shade, making the lane shine in contrast to the grubbiness outside. The insideof one haveli, owned by Atam Agarwal, is festooned with antique furniture and ancient bric-a-brac. The house has more than a hundred doors and 50 windows.
