Pinjore Garden deserves a special mention when it comes to excursions in and around Chandigarh. It serves as the venue to host the annual event of Mango festival. The garden houses a Japanese garden, nursery, several picnic spots, historical places and a mini zoo. The garden has been laid out in seven terraces, the highest being the one where the main gate of the garden opens. According to the Hindu mythology, it is said that it was over here that Pandava brothers had rested during their exile. The main gate of the garden has a palace built in Rajasthani–Mughal style. The garden and the temple complex laid in an open-air museum along with whole complex is beautifully illuminated in the evenings.
