Shahid Smarak – one of the oldest war memorials built in Meerut is the popular tourist attraction amongst the locals as well as those visiting for the first time. The white marble structures measure 30 m in height and lie near the Westend Road in Meerut. It was built to commemorate the war martyrs of India especially those who laid down their lives in the first war of freedom or revolt of 1857. Who so ever visits this monument, never forgets to pay their respect and tribute to those who died for the country. On special National Days like the Indian Independence Day and Republic Day, the park is illuminated with lights and flowers.
