Shakambhari Travel Guide
Nestled in the green valley of Aravalis, lies the famous temple of Maa Bhagwati Shakambhari, also known as Sakarai Mata. It is 56 km east of Sikar and 16 km from Udaipurwati village (Sikar district). The temple was built in the 7th century AD. It is one of the eight Shakti Peeths (place of divine power) in India. The magnificent temple, surrounded by a variety of trees like dhok, plash, senana, kirwala, kankun, gangeran, falsa, peepal, neem etc. and a lot of other herbal trees. Pilgrims throng the temple all the year round and especially during the nine-day long Navratra festival, which is held in the month of Chaitra and Ashwin. The river, Shankar Ganga, flows near the temple in rainy season. Many ghats have been constructed for the pilgrims take a holy dip. The other important religious places, near the temple, are Jata Shankar Temple and Shri Aatm Muni Ashram.
