The Ghats Travel Guide

On the banks of the River Yamuna are a few revered Memorials popularly known as Ghats, namely Raj Ghat – the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination, Veer Bhoomi – built to commemorate Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi son of Indira Gandhi, Shakti Sthal – memorial of Indira Gandhi, first lady prime minister of India, Shanti Vana – place is the memorial of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, and Vijay Ghat – built in commemoration of India's second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri. Also close to the Raj Ghat is the memorial of Jawaharlal Nehru, known as Shantivan.
