Nestled between lofty mountains, Bomdila is situated at far from the hustle-bustle of this world. Not much is known about the past of this secluded town of Bomdila. Perhaps, the history of this town is a well-kept secret by the hilly mountains of Bomdila. However, it is believed that Bomdila was a part of the Tibetan kingdom during the medieval times. The few recorded facts also tell that Bomdila was watched over and ruled by the local tribal rulers and the tribal rulers from Bhutan. Under the British Rule, this region in Arunachal Pradesh was once declared off limits, which remained a disputed region between India and China after India’s independence. Though the Chinese invaded the area around Bomdila in 1962, they later retrieved their troops from this region.
